FAQ

Why should I have my RV inspected before purchase?

When you’re considering purchasing an RV, you are likely preparing spend a large sum of money.  With that in mind, most of our customers want to purchase an RV and know there aren't any serious problems. You want to buy an RV that will provide you with many miles of worry-free travel. This is just one reason you may want to consider an RV inspection by an NRVIA certified inspector.

In addition, it's not always advantageous to travel 1,000 miles in order to look at a RV you are interested in purchasing. We make this process much easier for our customers by traveling to the location and inspecting the units for our customers, saving you time and money.

NRVIA inspectors have been trained to the highest standards in the industry. NRVIA inspectors are certified to perform third party, unbiased RV inspections.

What if my dealer tells me they’ve already inspected the RV and an independent inspection isn’t needed?

This is a common theme. While the dealer may indeed have done a PDI (pre-delivery inspection), the dealers do not follow the strict standards that is required by the NRVIA. Do you want to trust the dealer or seller to tell you that the RV is “perfect" or "needs nothing and was already inspected”- or does a third-party, non-biased inspection make more sense? We'll let you answer this question.

What is a NRVIA certified inspector?

NRVIA certified inspectors have completed many hours of classroom training in all aspects of RV inspections, for all types of RVs.  In addition, NRVIA certified inspectors are bound by a strict twelve point Code of Ethics. NRVIA’s Code of Ethics promotes the Certified Recreational Vehicle Inspectors responsibility to report the results of the inspection in a fair, professional and impartial manner while avoiding conflicts of interest that would impact the credibility of the inspection and professional standing of the National Recreational Vehicle Inspectors Association (NRVIA).

What is the process for an inspection and how long before I see the results of the inspection?

Once you have located an RV and wish to obtain an inspection, call us at 877-4RV-SMRT (877-478-7678) or email us at mark@rvsmartinspections.com.  We will discuss the terms of the inspection and which level of inspection you desire.  Then, we will provide you with a Inspection Requirements document. You can contact the seller and let them know the requirements for the inspection, time, date, etc.  On the day of the inspection, the inspector will arrived at the predetermined time and begin the inspection. The inspection can take 5-8 hours, depending on the RV and level of inspection requested.  Once the inspection is complete, you can expect your report in a PDF format delivered by email within 24 to 48 hours of completion of the inspection. On the day the inspection has been completed, the inspector will phone you (if desired) and give you a short debriefing of the inspection, problems  found, etc.

Please note, if an oil analysis is requested it can take 5 to 7 days for those results to return from the lab.  However, this will not delay the completion of your inspection report. Oil analysis reports will be emailed separately.

Once you receive the inspection and have had time to review the findings, please give us a call so we can discuss any concerns and answer questions.  We are here to help you!
